Our Story

Emmanuel – God With Us

The Church of Emmanuel Spiritual Healing Ministry (CESHM) is a Christ-centred, Bible-based Christian ministry founded in 1952 in Southern Sierra Leone. From its inception, the Ministry has been devoted to the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through prayer, spiritual healing, evangelism, discipleship, and compassionate service to communities.

CESHM was founded through the divine calling of the late Primate Sellu Dauda, a native of Bumpeh Chiefdom. In obedience to God's call, he established a spiritual healing ministry in Kebbie Town, Kaiyamba Chiefdom. The early years were marked by humility, perseverance, and steadfast faith. Worship gatherings were held in farm huts, verandas, and temporary palm-thatch shelters.

Despite limited resources and early resistance, the believers remained committed to prayer, fellowship, and the teaching of the Word. Through testimonies of healing and divine intervention, community attitudes gradually changed, and land was released for worship—marking a pivotal moment in the Ministry's growth.

Although Primate Sellu Dauda was tragically killed during the civil war in 1997, his legacy endures. His life remains a reminder that faithful obedience produces fruit beyond one lifetime. Today, CESHM stands as a living testimony of God's enduring faithfulness across generations.

Our Vision

CESHM's vision is to raise a holy, Spirit-led people whose lives are transformed by the saving and renewing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Ministry seeks to nurture believers who live in obedience to God, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and being shaped by the truth of God's Word. Through spiritual transformation, CESHM aims to establish vibrant Christian communities that function as centres of worship, healing, prayer, and moral renewal—serving as visible witnesses of Christ's love in everyday life.

Infrastructure & Development Commitment

Rapid growth has resulted in many branches operating from temporary or unfinished structures. In response, CESHM prioritises:

  • Expansion of the central worship facility
  • Completion of unfinished church buildings
  • Construction of permanent, safe worship structures in rural chiefdoms
  • Development of child-safe and accessible worship environments

These facilities are designed not only for worship but also for counselling, youth programmes, literacy classes, leadership training, and community dialogue—ensuring that church buildings serve both spiritual and social functions.
